The recipe for the lemonade is simple:
For One Glass:
- 1 oz / 2 Tbsp of Lemon Juice (Freshly Squeezed)
- 1 oz / 2 Tbsp of Organic Grade B Maple Syrup
- 8 oz of Filtered Water
- 1/10 Tsp of Cayenne Pepper
For Six Glasses: (Makes like an OJ Pitcher)
- 6 oz / 12 Tbsp of Lemon Juice (Freshly Squeezed)
- 6 oz / 12 Tbsp of Organic Grade B Maple Syrup
- 48 oz of Filtered Water
- 1/2 Tsp of Cayenne PepperIn addition - you are allowed to have an herbal mint tea. That is a nice snack in the afternoon, but I also mixed a little mint tea with my lemonade to help the taste. And, I drank my lemonade warm, like a hot tea.
I did not really experience any problems... However, there were definitely some side effects when I first started, headaches, tired, etc. But nothing that did not go away after the first couple of days - nothing unbearable. I still went to yoga.... And I did drink the laxative teas - I never did the salt water flush - because I was never in a position to be at home for that long of a period. But I would generally have a lax tea in the evening and then one again in the morning - just to help move things out. But it was not like I lived in the bathroom!
Source of Ingredients
- Lemons - bought the bag at Sam's - Good size lemons with lots of juice and inexpensive
- Organic Grade B Maple Syrup - http://store.valuenutrition.com/masy64flozor.html Buy in Bulk!!! 12oz at the Grocery Store is around $10
- Water - Duh!!! I would actually bring home good water from work in liter bottles! I am a thief!
- Cayenne Pepper - Nothing special there - Spicy!!!
- Laxative Tea - Yogi Tea Get Regular - I got it at a whole foods store.
Okay - let me know if I answered all of your questions!!! You can also go by a book store to pick up the book. I got it at Borders - The Master Cleanse - for $6.95!
I would make a pitcher every day - and that was pretty much all I needed. But you can have anywhere from 6-12 glasses a day, so really up to 2 pitchers if you wanted. I looked it up and basically each glass of lemonade has 100 calories.

Cleansing is not for everyone. It should always be done with care. If you have any health issues you should consult your physician. |

It is actually quite healthy, but yes, it is not for everyone. The ingredients are designed to provide all the vitamins and minerals your body requires, which is why you use Grade B maple, and not Grade A. The Grade B is full of more of these nutrients. I didn't experience any headaches, and had tons of energy when I did this. The salt-water flush seemed like a necessary part of the process, however, since the point of the cleanse is to clear out the colon and the intestines, and the salt-water does this most effectively. After the third or fourth day, it started to get more difficult for me to get the salt-water down (a quart, or four cups), but the benefits were obvious. I've found that when people use this as a weight-loss aid, however, it tends to back-fire. Your body will lose weight, but when you go off it, your body wants to return to a healthy weight, and since your metabolism has slowed slightly, you tend to gain back most of what you lost when you begin to eat food again. I will do this again. |

I did this cleanse about 3 months ago and loved it. i read the book. it's only about 50 pages long. According to the book and other types of info on this you gt all the nutrition that you need through the organic lemons and organic raw maple syrup.Lots of vitamins and minerals. I felt great while on this and actually had more energy than when I eat food! i will be doing it again in early march. |

I'm on day 10 of the Master Cleanse, and I have to admit, I feel great. As a big time foodie, I never thought I could make it through any cleanse, let alone the MC, but here I am, a survivor!! I've stayed true to the program, consuming only the Lemonade, filtered water, and mint tea. I chose the saltwater flush instead of the lax tea, and while it was not fun at all, I understand the benefits of it. I teach at least 2 classes a day, along with privates, and Teacher Training, and my energy level has been high enough to maintain my normal schedule without complaint. I have been sleeping a full 9, sometimes 10, hours a night though, getting plenty of rest. The most difficult part for me was the time between 3pm and 8pm. I found that if I could stay busy then it was more bearable. I've had no headaches, and any hunger I felt was quickly allieviated by a glass of the lemonade. I agree it's not for everyone, but as long as your physician clears you for it, and you set your mind to it, it can be done. If I can do it, anyone can!

Congratulations on this accomplishment Tina! I appreciate you sharing so much personal experience with this cleanse. It's hard to believe you could go without food for so long with no negative side effects. Tell me, what positive changes have you noticed? |

postitves... well, firstly- i feel great. not just physically great, but a great sense of accomplishment. i've been told i look thinner, but i only i lost about 4 lbs. even so, that was not my focus. i have noticed my food choices have been lighter and healthier as a result though. and for those of you who know me- i'm a bit of a foodie! i'm a fan of the flavorful for sure. as for one of the biggest positives, the mc helped me get through what could have been a very rough time. i was going through a personal transition, and the cleanse helped me to see things clearly and focus on what is important. i made it to the other side of a potentially dark time with not only very little discomfort, but a peaceful clarity. i attribute that to the mc- cleanse the body, cleanse the mind, cleanse the spirit. the proof was in the pudding for me... or rather the lemonade! |
