Of course just when I have gotten addicted to yoga and sign up for an Unlimited Monthly, my right calf starts to feel heavy and overstrained. I haven't been to class for the last 4 days . I've been doing RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation) for a couple of days, and I plan on taking things slow. Is there any modified yoga moves I can do while I give my leg a break. And when I get back to yoga are there any stretches I should do before class begins.

    Thanks a lot.

When I have something hiurting like that, I just back off the full intensity of the pose. It can be that you have pushed really hard at things. It also can be that your body is changing. Sometimes that involves some discomfort, and I can absolutely attest to that.

I know for cramps, you can push away with your heel and bring your toes towards your knee. You could try that. But also try and not give it your all on anything for a class or two. It can be better to do a pose for 1/2 the time properly then it is to do it the entire time, but in poor or compromised alignment.

Some other things to check: does your right foot align straight ahead just like your left? Are yoiu carrying your weight too much on either the inside or outside of your right foot?

Try lying onr your back with your legs stright up, and rotate your feet in slow circles, trying to get as much rotation at the ankiles as possible. point your toes and also floex your toes back towards your knees - doing it both ways might help.

Thanks for the reply Greg. It is possible that I pushed to hard at things. I tried your little exercise but my leg still feels tight. It's not just a cramp, its something else. I'm sure the Chiropractor, Doctor and Masseuse will get to the root of the problem. Its just annoying
