Hey guys! Really want to get a i year unlimited membership at sunstone. The thing is, I already have a gym membership at a place I use a lot. Sadly, I'm only a poor college student who can't afford both memberships. I like yoga but I'm afraid I get better muscle exercise at the gym, however, yoga is easier to use. What do you guys suggest? Yoga or Gym? Thanks |

Try using a facility like the Y or a community center that is low or no cost for students, or do your working out the old fashioned way...outdoors in the fresh air. Take lots of Yoga classes to activate Get Paid to Do Yoga and before you know it your cost will be low enough that you can do both if you still have the energy From someone who is a runner, a biker, a swimmer and a Yoga teacher. Peace! Stephanie |

Hi Steve! I am not sure what your body type is, but I have struggled with being overweight my whole life. Starting at the beginning of the year, I began working out in the gym alternating days with weights and cardio. I saw a few results, but nothing that was life changing. I started yoga in mid-April for the stress relief, but in about two weeks I have already seen my body tone up. For me, yoga has provided a workout that the gym never will be able to. I have now officially given up on going to the gym, and I am a member at Sunstone. I know you will make the best decision for you! |

Steve- I am also a poor college student that was faced with the same problem you were! I have found that my yoga practice more than makes up for the gym. Indeed, several friends have actually noticed that I have become MORE muscular since I stopped going to the gym and lifting weights. You just have to make sure you hit the metal and earth classes frequently and throw in the occasional sixty minute wood. Of course, a yogi's body will always be a different type of 'muscled' than a gym rat's, so you should take that into account when making your decision as well. Hope this helps. Regards, Chris |

The loss of weights that a gym provides is one of my current predicaments. I'm continuing to be convinced that they aren't really necessary based on your committment to being active with your yoga. I'm tired of the up and down of the gym and looking forward to seeing how yoga can effect me different than the humdrum of 24hour fitness. The synergy of the room I think is what really gets me though. I've only been through one class thus far, but I didn't feel at all judged the entire 90 minute session. There's just a common respect and feel to the room. I step into the a gym and I feel the exact opposite. |

| Depending on where u live try finding a Planet Fitness. I pay 10 a month there. It is a no frills gym but i can alternate still between the gym and yoga. |
