Visit http://www.cancerproject.org/ to learn about classes on Eating to Prevent Cancer - it is all about a vegan life style - last week they had an intro class at Central Market in Plano and the food was terrific - there are a series of classes coming that take you through all of the major components of the diet. They show how to make many of the foods and how simple it is and how broad the taste field is - I am not much for the kitchen and am actually enjoying making and eating the recipes. BTW you will not leave class hungry..........

The Cancer Project promotes cancer prevention and survival through a better understanding of cancer causes, particularly the link between nutrition and cancer.

Yoga students interested in nutrition should check out the Sunstone 2 1/2 workshop that will be offered in September 2009. Nutrition is covered in detail using an integrative approach, which allows the student to develop a healthy diet that is specific to their invidivual needs. Topics include: vegetarian diets and the evolution of this diet in yoga, superfoods, eating to support brain function, ayurvedic nutrition, when to buy organic, and much more. If you are in a rut with your diet, come and check this out. Like everything yoga, you will be challenged to stretch and open your current concepts of nutrition, while developing a mindful practice of eating.

Barbara,

Is there a link to the info for this? I went and looked under the 2 1/2 page, but didn't see anything. I may have just missed it and looked in the wrong place.

thanks,

Hi Michael - you can ask any Sunstone Yoga teacher or contact Allie Strickler for details. I believe there is a link on the home page as well.

Anyone have any specific suggestions for a raw vegan diet high in protein and very low in cost? I've been experimenting but it seems like I'm spending a ton of money on groceries and salad bars. So far my favorite things are fruit smoothies with rice or hemp protein, and kale + avocado salad. Any other low budget, highly nutritious meal suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Can anyone recommend a multivitamin or vitamin that is easily digestible and easy on the budget?
Also I am curious whether current teachers have to pay to take the 2 1/2 nutrition workshop.
Thanks, There's some good info on this thread.
P.S. Check out the salad bars at Jason's Deli, Sweet Tomatoes, Souper Salad, and Whole Foods. My favorite restaurant right now is Bliss. It's all raw vegan and gluten-free, but a little pricey.
Namaste

I would also like to recommend a great new Raw Food restaurant in Dallas, it's called Bliss Cafe - www.blissrawcafe.com - and it's on upper Greenville Avenue.

The food here is fantastic, especially their yummy drinks. Raw food can be time consuming to prepare - so this is the perfect solution!
