During yoga classes students are led through a defined series of postures. The choice and sequence of the postures create a balanced center of beneficial emphasis that provides the student a full spectrum of health-giving exercise.

At Sunstone Yoga we offer 5 separate series classes, all of which are designed to reduce stress, increase strength, improve flexibility, and balance the weight of your body. Sunstone Yoga students are encouraged to combine our many offerings to achieve a harmonious physical and mental experience unique to their needs.

As a beginner, your first two classes should be the Intro Series A & B.

Duration: Especially for students new to Sunstone Yoga, these two 90 minute classes are an ideal introduction to everything Sunstone Yoga offers. Intro Series A includes a condensed Fire Series class, a discussion of yoga etiquette, and a short tour of the studio. Series B continues your introduction with limited repetitions of all Fire Series postures. Both feature personal guidance from a trained Intro Series teacher. More...

Progressions are a succession of 30 minute versions of our Fire, Earth, Metal and Wood classes. There is a 5 minute break between each 30 minute class. You may attend as much of the Progression in 30 minute class blocks as you prefer. This enables you to build your practice, experience a larger variety of classes, and customize the length and mix of your experience.

Progressions are a great way to try out a new series or re-engage your practice after an absence. Because there is a 5 minute break between each 30 minute class you may start at the beginning of a Progression or come in at the 5 minute break. This is great for customizing your experience or on that day you get caught in traffic and can't make the first 30 minutes.

Duration: The core class offering at Sunstone Yoga® is the Fire Series, the 90 minute class consists of 34 postures performed at a moderate pace  in a carefully controlled environment. The Fire Series is accessible to students at any level and provides all students from beginners to advanced with an ever expanding set of challenges and rewards.

Using a subset of postures from the 90 minute class the 60 and 30 minute versions offer their own challenges with variation in pace, hold times of postures, and repetition. You will find Fire 30 classes in most Progressions.

Duration: This is an energetic, detoxifying and exhilarating power yoga class. With dynamic movement and focused balance, this class appeals to all fitness minded students. The 90 minute class closes with a 30 minute restorative Wood Series.

Using a subset of postures from the 60 minute class the 30 minute class offers challenging hold times and a faster pace. Look for Earth 30 classes in Progressions.

Duration: The Metal Series is conducted at a more vigorous pace than the Fire Series. Flowing continuously from one posture to the next, students find they are challenged to develop greater stamina and strength as they generate internal energy through movement and breath. The 90 minute class closes with a 30 minute restorative Wood Series.

Using a subset of the most challenging sequences from the 60 minute class the Metal 30 is great for stamina and strength but delivered in just 30 minutes. Look for Metal 30 classes in Progressions.

Duration: The Fire Series postures are performed to music in subdued lighting. Once you become familiar with the basic postures of our core offering, this series frees your mind to explore the mental and physical benefits of yoga. The selection of music progressively awakens the whole brain and facilitates a deeply satisfying and harmonious union of the physical body with the creative mind.

Duration: This class is the core of our Pain Free Yoga™ methodology and comes in a 30 and 60 minute power class. Utilizing isometric and active stretching techniques combined with core strengthening movements, this class is a must for all students.

The 90 minute class ends with 30 minutes of Q&A. Earth 90 and Metal 90 end in a restorative version of Wood 30. You will find our standard Wood 30 in Progressions.

Advanced Class
Strength & Flexibility

Duration: 3 hours
  This advanced class takes place in a warm room for 3 hours each Friday afternoon at our Plano location. It is recommended that you establish a regular yoga practice before trying the 84 posture series, but all students are welcome to give this deep practice a try.
