Hello,

This is not directly yoga-related, but it might be of interest to some of you. There is a Northwest Earth Institute course, Choices for Sustainable Living, beginning August 14 very near the Preston-Forest Sunstone location. I have participated in this course before (but with a different group), and it is very informative and helpful for learning to reduce our carbon footprints and live more mindfully, less wastefully, more meaningfully. These classes are also a wonderful community-builder.

Here is the basic information for the upcoming course, as listed on the Sierra Club website:

When: 7 sessions beginning Thursday evenings beginning August 14, 2008
Time:  6:30 to eat, 7:00 Discussion
Duration:  Eight weeks including final Celebration
Where:  Snappy Salads, SE corner of Preston and Forest
Cost:  $20 for book, payable at first class in check or cash.

Class Leader:  David Hale (jdavidhale@gmail.com)  Please contact him to reserve your place in this class.

The full Sierra Club listing for the upcoming course can be found here: http://www.texas.sierraclub.org/dallas/page.asp?nwei0814

And the full course description is on the NWEI website: http://nwei.org/discussion_courses/course-offerings/choices-for-sustainable-living

-----------------

A Menu for the Future discussion course also will be beginning in August. I don't have the full details right in front of me, but I know that it will be held at the Covenant Presbyterian Church on the SW corner of Josey and Cox in Farmers Branch. This Menu for the Future class will be a great way to get acquainted with your local farmers and farmers' markets, as several of the participants are budding "farm groupies" and would love to share their knowledge.

For more information and to sign up, contact Scarlett Silva (scarlettsilva@sbcglobal.net). Tell her Lisa McGougan sent you.
