How did the current teachers prepare to go through the teacher training intensive? How many times a week/day did you practice? What classes did you go to?

Thanks
Emily

Hello Emily,

Prior to my 9 week intensive training, I practiced every day for four months prior to leaving and two months before starting, I practiced twice a day 3 times a week to help adjust my body for  the intensive. I was thankful I prepared my body, there were students that did not and they were failing physically in the first two weeks, (injuries were the biggest problem with student not familiar with their own limitations and their lack of knowledge of their yoga body).

It is like training for a really long marathon. I found by being prepared physically my emotional body was calm and grounded. Don't get me wrong there were days I was very tired however I was coping quite well with the fatigue emotionally.

Peace

Nicole

Hi emily,
I think the main focus for a lot of people coming in to Training is committment. I think it's perfectly ok to train and prepare for the intensive, as this will allow the transition to be a bit smoother on your physical state and emotional state. There is no question, preparation is key. I have had a lot of enrollees prepare by taking several months of class, and I have seen people come in with only a few hot yoga classes in thier background. Ideally, the more Hot Yoga you have done, the easier the transition. With that said, I would not discourage any body from the program if they have done anywhere from 3 to 30 classes with us (or Hot Yoga). I think this is ok, as long as they are committed to the endeavor, and are allowing their bodies to be in pretty good condition when they arrive. I also think a healthy eating habit, and sleeping pattern is important as well. I believe doing 3+ classes per week, as well as a healthy diet, and sleep pattern will allow you to acclimate to the 8 week program rather smoothly.
I hope this helps! I can always be reached for further questions regarding Teacher Training at: 214.764.2119 option 3.
