Anyone care to share their experience with the 84 asanas class? I am very interested in trying it but feel intimidated. I have only recently returned to sunstone and am afraid I don't yet have the strength or stamina for the class.

Thanks.

Hello Michelle,

84 Asanas can be a challenge for the knees and hips. It is good if you can do lotus. If you cannot do lotus there is plenty of time to learn it in the class.  I started the series when I was unable to do half lotus and now three years later I can do lotus. I suggest that you do attend and not to be afraid of the class any more

We will cover approx 60 asanas and each week I will change the last hour of the class and focus on a particular group of asanas, back bends, shoulder strenthening, balancing poses the whole 84 takes 4 hours.

The class is approx 3hours and will require you to be okay with not being able to do all of the poses. I tell the students every week to remind yourself this is a 15 year journey. Remember consistency and compassion at all times.

Hi Michelle. I understand what you mean about feeling intimidated... I haven't taken a metal class because I had it in my mind that I wasn't "ready" for it. In reality, I believe what makes you ready for a class is walking through the door.

Recently, I took my first 84 Asanas class and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a delight being taught by Nicole because you get a bit of yogic philosophy along with an explanation of the posture. Is is REALLY cool! Listen closely when she says, "Be careful with your knees," because she means it! :-) If you have any interest in seeing what it is about, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the encouragement, Nicole. I should have guessed you were the teacher! I have to take a break for the holidays to go out of town for a few weeks, but you will see me after the new year at the 84 asanas. It seems like a good way to start 2008.

Thank you, Trina. As I just responded to Nicole I will be trying the class after the new year and I hope to see you there.

Michelle
